Join Redeemer Charleston’s team as we raise money for Water Mission, Charleston’s local charity that builds safe water solutions. Every day millions of people have to walk miles and miles just for water. Most of the time, the water they can find is contaminated and makes them sick. We are excited because Water Mission is changing lives, one community at a time, through their sustainable safe water solutions. Each dollar raised by this event is going to make an impact through a safe water community development project!
Two ways to support our team:
- WALK – Join Redeemer Charleston’s team and walk with us on Saturday, March 25 at Brittlebank Park downtown.
- DONATE – Our goal for Redeemer Charleston’s team is $1500.
Contact our team captain Tiffany Koch with questions.
Saturday was a hot Charleston morning for Team Redeemer as they participated in the annual Walk for Water. Our team from Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Charleston, SC, raised over $850 for Water Mission, a Charleston-based charity that has a global impact. Water Mission is a nonprofit Christian engineering organization that designs, builds, and implements safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) solutions for people in developing countries and disaster areas. Since 2001, Water Mission has used innovative technology and engineering expertise to provide access to safe water for more than 3 million people in 52 countries. You can still donate to our team here!

Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Charleston, SC, boasted two teams in the Walk for Water this past Saturday, March 22. Some of the “not Downtown CG” Team is shown above prior to the walk.
Some of Redeemer’s second team, the “Downtown Community Group,” is shown above. Between both Redeemer teams, we raised over $800 for Water Missions International!
With nearly 4,000 walkers this year, this 9th Annual event was their biggest yet–and Redeemer’s best participation, too!
Contribute to a Redeemer team or join us in our Walk for Water this Saturday, March 21 downtown beginning at Brittlebank Park. Redeemer has the privilege of supporting a local charity, Charleston’s own Water Missions International! Redeemer has two groups registered to walk, and each team is accepting additional walkers and donations now.
The Downtown Community Group formed the first team (donate or join here), and then threw down the gauntlet to the other community groups. In response another team formed–aptly named “not the Downtown CG” (donate or join here). So pick your side, throw your support behind one (or both) of these Redeemer teams, and donate to a great charity that provides not just clean drinking water to needy communities around the world but also Living Water.
On World Water Day March 22, Redeemer’s team of 13 adults, 2 kids, and 2 dogs joined other teams from around the Lowcountry for Water Missions International‘s 8th annual Walk for Water. (There’s still time to contribute to our team’s goal.) We enjoyed a beautiful spring day, as we walked the streets of downtown Charleston. We carried buckets to simulate the long walk to fetch water that many around the world must take each day.
To help provide sustainable sources of clean water around the world, Redeemer will participate in Water Missions International‘s Walk for Water event. This family-friendly, dog-friendly 3.5-mile walk will start at Cannon Park at 9 am on Saturday, March 22 and end at White Point Garden. Register to join the Redeemer team, or make a donation in support of our team. Our own Lauren Martin is helping captain our team, and she enjoys this annual event:
I love participating in the Walk for Water because it is a great time for fellowship and exercise in a beautiful part of downtown and a chance to take a walk in someone else’s shoes. The walk gives you just a little taste of what life is like for many people in other parts of the world who have to walk several miles each day for water. You fill a bucket with dirty water, and carrying it really makes you think about what life would be like without a clean or convenient water source. Just when you start feeling hopeless about the situation, you find yourself at the finish line and pour your water into the purification system that your registration fee is helping to take to countries all over the world.
Enjoy our pictures from last year’s Walk for Water, and make plans to join in the fun for this worthy cause!
Redeemer Charleston’s team at Saturday’s Walk for Water enjoyed a beautiful day walking for a great cause! Water Mission, a local Charleston charity, is changing lives, one community at a time, through their sustainable safe water solutions. Our team was 2/3 children, and we rocked this event that had nearly 5,000 walkers! If you’d like to give toward our team goal, you can donate here. We’ve raised over $1,200 already!
