Ways to Serve. Volunteer to Serve

Ways to Serve. Volunteer to ServeAt Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Charleston, SC, we believe the Lord has created each person “for good works, which God prepared beforehand …” Ephesians 2:10. We offer many opportunities through ministries, committees, teams, and more to serve at Redeemer and throughout our community. Here’s Laura’s story about volunteering with the Children’s Ministry and the Nursery Ministry at Redeemer:

I originally got involved with these ministries because I think it’s important for kids to have someone other than a parent to talk to and learn from. And a few years ago, we had just moved back from a small community where I was convicted of this need. I saw firsthand how important it was to my friends that we were part of their kids’ lives.

After serving for three years, I’ve stayed involved because it’s amazing to watch the kids learn and remember. They are grasping concepts that I didn’t get until college and my 20s. I strongly believe in the idea of hiding away truth in their hearts. We hope and pray that when they’re young adults and trying to make decisions, some of these lessons will influence them and keep them near to the Lord. Finally, those stories are not just for the kids–the Lord always finds a way to speak to our hearts, and I’m sure other teachers would agree.

As for serving in the nursery, it’s a vital ministry! This ministry allows us to truly listen to a sermon each week without a squirming 2-year-old body next to us, and it allows us parents to serve in other capacities, like teaching the older kids during the Equip Hour.

We need you, too! Check out the many opportunities through ministries, committees, teams, and more to serve at Redeemer and throughout our community.
