Redeemer volunteers served lunch for nearly 100 international students at the Welcome Back Luncheon hosted by MUSC International Programs last Thursday. Our volunteers also provided homemade desserts for this event, which are always a favorite with the internationals.
This luncheon gives Redeemer an easy way to meet international students of varying ages, from many countries, and of different faiths. From graduate students to post-doctoral students, these learned individuals come to Charleston to study at MUSC for several months or even several years. Since we’re called to “love the sojourner” (Deuteronomy 10:19), Redeemer enjoys a wonderful opportunity to reach out to these sojourners here in Charleston.
This luncheon kicks off the semester where Kurt Brewer, the coordinator for Redeemer’s outreach to international students at MUSC, has the opportunity to advertise an English conversation club on the MUSC campus. Kurt and other volunteers meet with international students every other week to help them learn English and to build relationships with these sojourners. If you’d like more information about Redeemer’s ministry to internationals, contact Kurt Brewer.
