The women in the James Island, Downtown, and West Ashley community groups at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Charleston, SC, hosted a big baby shower of blessings for three new moms last Saturday. We enjoyed a beautiful, crisp morning for breakfast, fellowship, and prayer for these precious moms and their little ones coming soon.
The shower of blessings was the best gift that I have received. The love that was showered on me and the other moms was astounding and so encouraging as we enter into this great blessing of motherhood. –Maribeth
I appreciated the shower and all the ladies at Redeemer. Our family is spread out, and we don’t have anyone close. Redeemer definitely helps us feel like we have family in Charleston. –Jess

Attention, ladies! Though Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Charleston, SC, is now part of a small presbytery, we still have wonderful resources to offer our women for our women’s ministry.
We’ve been invited to Grounded and Growing, a women’s ministry training event in Lexington, SC, on Saturday, March 12 from 8:30 am – 2:30 pm. From Atlanta’s Discipleship Ministries, Connie Miller and Lisa Hellier (women’s ministry trainers) will lead this training where they’ll give a broad overview of the doctrines of Covenant, Church, and Womanhood, including three sessions titled Women of Impact, Women of Influence, and Titus 2 and Women’s Ministries. Such a great opportunity for our women to receive training from two of PCA headquarters’ best trainers of women!
If you’re part of Redeemer, then we want you to come with us! The cost for the training (including lunch) is $20. Use this form to register and select from your lunch options (from Cribb’s Sandwich and Sweet Shop). Then mail a check or drop in the offering plate on Sunday (payable to Redeemer with women’s training event in the memo line). Registration deadline is Sunday, February 21.
Many of our Redeemer women will be carpooling, so once you’ve registered and paid, we’ll be in touch about arranging transportation for the early-morning departure. Contact Frankie Bennett or Leslie Paladino with questions.
As the women of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Charleston, SC, sipped hot cider and nibbled on delicious desserts last Friday night, we heard reports of the sex trafficking industry in our state and around the world. Though we were overwhelmed by the staggering statistics, we spent time praying for those affected, the many ministries that work each day to combat this evil, and our response as women in Charleston. One such ministry Rahab’s Rope gave us the opportunity to “shop to stop” the sex trade in India–a country where 1 in 5 girls will be sold into the sex trafficking industry.
If you missed the event but would still like to shop their beautiful jewelry and accessories to support the work of Rahab’s Rope, contact JaiLynne Wood for a catalog.
Though our annual fall women’s retreat started out like many of the ones in previous years, we women of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Charleston, SC, were in for a crazy adventure by the time we got back home. We enjoyed fellowship, teaching, and worship on Friday and Saturday plus some free time for eating fun food and playing around before the storm hit.
On Sunday, however, the flooding and road closures began in earnest, and we saw God show such mercy and faithfulness to us as we traveled several different routes with some of us spending an extra day and night in Florence.
We finally made it back to our homes on Monday afternoon after traveling through some water and seeing lots of flood damage!

Last Saturday night, July 18 nearly 25 Redeemer women gathered to celebrate Lauren at her baby shower of blessings. As we prayed for Lauren and her little one on the way, our blessings and well-wishes, prayers and advice emphasized the community within the body of Christ. How wonderful it was to see women of all ages, walks of life, and experiences come together to pray for God’s blessing on our dear sister.
Plan a girls’ night with your Redeemer family, and join us for a baby shower of blessings honoring Lauren Martin.
