Equip Hour

SCHEDULE FOR FEBRUARY 2020: We’ve heard tons of positive feedback about the new schedule we tried in January, so we want to continue for February in order to help the Session determine if this change could be more permanent. For the four Sundays in February, we’ll continue to have worship FIRST, and then we’ll have our Equip classes for all ages. Join us for worship at 9:30 am. Then head over to the Fellowship Hall for some coffee, breakfast nibbles, and Equip Hour AFTER the worship service. Our youth and kids will continue their usual classes at the new time, and we’ll continue to offer nurseries for toddlers and babies.

Join us on Sunday mornings at 9:15 am for our Equip Hour! Like Sunday School and Christian education, our Equip Hour at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Charleston, SC, offers classes for adults, youth, and children prior to our worship service. We’ve recently renamed our Christian Education hour to Equip. This small change is to make clear that the purpose of this hour is not to simply be educated, but rather to be equipped to live out being a Family On Mission Together.

Our Equip class for adults meets in our beautiful Fellowship Hall on the second floor of our Education Building. Come at 9 to grab a hot cup of coffee, as the teaching portion starts promptly at 9:15 am and ends at 10 for fellowship time. Contact Jared Carlson, who oversee and lead the adults’ class during Equip Hour, with any questions.

Our Equip classes for youth also meet in the Education Building: The middle school class meets in the office on the third floor, and the high school class meets in the conference room on the second floor. Contact Peter Mathias with questions about the youth classes. Read more here about the curriculum for each of the youth classes.

Our Equip classes for our children, including preschool (3K-5K) and elementary (grades 1-5), meet on the first floor in the Education Building. Be sure to check in your children first with the Welcome Desk attendant, so she can issue your child a nametag before walking down the hall to class. Contact Lisa Coulter, our Children’s Ministry coordinator, with questions. Read more here about the curriculum for the children’s classes.

We also provide a nursery for infants and toddlers during our Equip hour, so parents can attend the Equip class for adults. We offer nurseries for ages up to 3 with friendly, knowledgeable volunteers from among our church members. (All our nursery volunteers have also passed a background check.) For more information about our nurseries, contact Lauren Pepin, our nursery coordinator.
