Easter Week Events
Easter Week begins with Palm Sunday, April 14 for our usual Equip classes and worship service.
TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY APRIL 16, 17 – SEDER PASSOVER MEAL
We’ve scheduled two separate nights for our popular and highly attended Seder Passover meal at Redeemer to help accommodate everyone who wants to participate. The Seder is a traditional Jewish Passover meal. We asked the same question this celebration has asked for centuries, “Why is this night different?” God commanded his people–prone to forgetfulness–to remember at the first of every year His deliverance, from oppression and bondage under Pharaoh, into the freedom of His ways. Likewise, we must worship by commemorating what God has done to free us from slavery to sin and futility in death by drawing us near through life in Christ.
Join us at 6 pm, and we’re having the meal catered this year. We’ll need RSVPs from all attendees plus $10/person or $25/family to help cover the cost of the meal. Please include all adults and children 4 years and up in your total number. (Infants and toddlers should not be counted in your total; please input their names and ages in the additional fields, so we can have appropriate childcare.) Use this Signup link to RSVP for you and your family. Your spot is reserved once payment is made: You can pay via the church’s Venmo account (@redeemer-charleston), write a check with Seder in the memo, or pay Rosie Riddle on a Sunday morning with exact change.
FRIDAY, APRIL 19 – GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE
Join us at 7 pm in our sanctuary for a special, somber service. Childcare is provided for children three and under.
SUNDAY, APRIL 21 – EASTER BREAKFAST
Join us at 9 am in our Fellowship Hall. Bring a breakfast dish to share as we enjoy a feast together as a church family.
SUNDAY, APRIL 21 – EASTER WORSHIP SERVICE
Our one service begins at 10:30 am, so find all the pertinent information here.
Weekly and Monthly Events
Community Groups: Community Groups are the main ministry of Redeemer outside of Sunday morning. These groups are like “house churches” where we want to live in community with each other like Luke writes about in Acts 2:42-47 because we’re a family on mission together. Find a current list here.
Women’s Bible Studies: At Redeemer our women’s Bible studies form through our community groups that meet around the Charleston area. So we have several Bible studies continuing this winter/spring semester that are sprinkled around Charleston. Find a current list here.
Equip Hour on Sundays at 9:15 am: Like Sunday School and Christian education, our Equip Hour offers classes for adults, youth, and children prior to our worship service. Last fall we renamed our Christian Education hour to Equip. This small change is to make clear that the purpose of this hour is not to simply be educated, but rather to be equipped to live out being a Family On Mission Together. Find specific information about our Equip classes for all ages here.
First Wednesday Men’s Luncheon at noon at St. Philip’s Church: Join the men of Redeemer and other downtown churches on the first Wednesday of each month for the First Wednesday Luncheon at St. Philip’s Parish Hall. Come enjoy good food with a requested donation of $10, plus hear a guest speaker each month.
Women’s Prayer Watch on Second Saturday at 7:30 am at RPC: The Lord has delivered us so that we may take an active role in seeing His Kingdom grow here in Charleston. If your heart desires to cry out to the Lord for Redeemer–its leaders, ministries, missionaries, marriages, young adults at school and home, our neighborhood, city, nation, and the church universal, come join us the second Saturday of every month at 7:30 am in Craig’s office on the second floor of the Education Building. Contact Debbie McDowell at 609-217-3170 to let her know you’re coming and to get reminder texts about these prayer times.
