Upcoming Events

Deacon nominations accepted now through Sun., Aug. 11Brothers and sisters of Redeemer, please assist us in the nomination of Godly men to serve on our Diaconate. It is the duty of the deacons to minister to those who are in need, collect and distribute the gifts of the church, and care for the church property.

To the office of deacon, which is spiritual in nature, shall be chosen men of spiritual character, honest repute, exemplary lives, brotherly spirit, warm sympathies, and sound judgment. The characteristics of a deacon can be found in I Timothy 3:8-13.

If you would like to nominate a member of Redeemer, first ask him if he would be willing to explore the deacon nomination. Then please submit his name during offering collection using the paper form (available at the greeting table on the portico) or by emailing

Family-friendly discussion on culture on Sunday, Aug. 4 at 9:15 am:
Unmasking the Lies of Our Culture through the Lens of Whimsical Fables
On Sunday, August 4 Redeemer families will be treated to a sneak preview of Michael & Sarah Dowling’s soon-to-be-published book Frog’s Rainy-Day Story and Other Fables. Enjoy a PowerPoint presentation of three entertaining fables and a lively discussion about how today’s confusing culture is at odds with a Biblical worldview. We’ll start promptly at 9:15 am in the Fellowship Hall.

Volunteer Training on Sun., Aug. 11 or Sun., Aug. 25: Calling all current and new nursery volunteers and Redeemer Kids teachers and volunteers! Before the fall semester starts, we want to gather as a group of volunteers to talk through the upcoming semester, introduce some new security measures, hear from you about your experiences and ideas, and re-energize our volunteer-force for the fall. We’re offering TWO training sessions to help accommodate schedules—you only need to attend ONE. We’ll have food at each training event and childcare! Join us either Sunday, August 11 at 8:45 am or Sunday, August 25 at 12:15 pm; use this Signup link to RSVP and to request childcare. (If you’re a current or new volunteer who can’t come to either training session, then contact Amanda Dolinski or Lisa Coulter directly.)

20th-Anniversary Celebratory Picnic on Sun., Sept. 22: We’re coming up on 20 years of God’s faithfulness to the Redeemer congregation! We want to celebrate this milestone in an easy and fun way with our church family. Join us after the worship service on Sunday, September 22 for a picnic lunch at Mt. Pleasant’s Memorial Waterfront Park (99 Harry M. Hallman, Jr. Blvd., 29464). Bring a picnic lunch for your family, a blanket and chairs, and a football or frisbee. There’s plenty of green space and shade, wide open spaces, and playgrounds for older kids and younger. We’ll have a celebratory cake, so come enjoy Redeemer friends and families for fellowship and fun!

Weekly and Monthly Events

Community Groups: Community Groups are the main ministry of Redeemer outside of Sunday morning. These groups are like “house churches” where we want to live in community with each other like Luke writes about in Acts 2:42-47 because we’re a family on mission together. Find a current list here.

Women’s Bible Studies: At Redeemer our women’s Bible studies form through our community groups that meet around the Charleston area. So we have several Bible studies continuing this winter/spring semester that are sprinkled around Charleston. Find a current list here.

Equip Hour on Sundays at 9:15 am: Like Sunday School and Christian education, our Equip Hour offers classes for adults, youth, and children prior to our worship service. Last fall we renamed our Christian Education hour to Equip. This small change is to make clear that the purpose of this hour is not to simply be educated, but rather to be equipped to live out being a Family On Mission TogetherFind specific information about our Equip classes for all ages here.

First Wednesday Men’s Luncheon at noon at St. Philip’s Church: Join the men of Redeemer and other downtown churches on the first Wednesday of each month for the First Wednesday Luncheon at St. Philip’s Parish Hall. Come enjoy good food with a requested donation of $10, plus hear a guest speaker each month.

Women’s Prayer Watch on Second Saturday at 7:30 am at RPC: The Lord has delivered us so that we may take an active role in seeing His Kingdom grow here in Charleston. If your heart desires to cry out to the Lord for Redeemer–its leaders, ministries, missionaries, marriages, young adults at school and home, our neighborhood, city, nation, and the church universal, come join us the second Saturday of every month at 7:30 am in Craig’s office on the second floor of the Education Building. Contact Debbie McDowell at 609-217-3170 to let her know you’re coming and to get reminder texts about these prayer times.
