God Calls Us to Worship

Read in unison from Psalm 46
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Come, behold the works of the Lord, how he has brought desolations on the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire. “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

We Sing Praises to God

Sing Your Name as Fred leads us. Click here for the link or watch the embedded video.

YOUR NAME
As morning dawns and evening fades
You inspire songs of praise
That rise from earth to touch Your heart
And glorify Your Name

Your Name is a strong and mighty tower
Your Name is a shelter like no other
Your Name let the nations sing it louder
‘Cause nothing has the power to save
But Your Name

Jesus in Your Name we pray
Come and fill our hearts today
Lord give us strength to live for You
And glorify Your Name (chorus)

Sing 10,000 Reasons as Fred leads us. Click here for the link or watch the embedded video.

10,000 REASONS
Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul;
Worship His holy name.
Sing like never before, O my soul;
I’ll worship Your holy name.

The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes (chorus)

You’re rich in love, and You’re slow to anger
Your name is great, and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find (chorus)

And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore (chorus)

God Reveals His Will for Our Lives

Read from I Peter 5:5–11
Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

We Confess Our Sins to God

Use the verses above as a guide for confession. If you have not been humble before the Lord and others, confess that. If you have not cast ALL your anxieties on the Lord, confess that. If you have doubted that God really cares for you, confess that. If you have not been sober-minded or watchful over your life and your words, confess that. If you have not lived as one who is watching for and hoping for the Lord’s return, confess that. If you have not resisted your adversary, the devil, through the power of the word of God and Spirit of God, confess that.

God Assures Us of His Forgiveness

Read from I Peter 5:10-11
And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Listen to and sing along with Kate, Kathy, and Brooke Bailey as they lead us in He Will Hold Me Fast. Click the link or watch the embedded video below.

HE WILL HOLD ME FAST
When I fear my faith will fail
Christ will hold me fast
When the tempter would prevail
He will hold me fast
I could never keep my hold
Through life’s fearful path
For my love is often cold
He must hold me fast

He will hold me fast
He will hold me fast
For my Savior loves me so
He will hold me fast

Those He saves are His delight
Christ will hold me fast
Precious in His holy sight
He will hold me fast
He’ll not let my soul be lost
His Promises shall last
Bought by Him at such a cost
He will hold me fast (chorus)

For my life He bled and died
Christ will hold me fast
Justice has been satisfied
He will hold me fast
Raised with Him to endless life
He will hold me fast
Till our faith is turned to sight
When He comes at last (chorus)

We Give to the Lord (Offering)

With an economy that is shut down, our country is experiencing financially challenging times. This has been reflected at Redeemer in the past several weeks as the given has decreased significantly. Please continue to give as an act of worship online or by check as the Lord gives you the ability. You may mail your checks to the church office at 43 Wentworth St. Charleston, SC 29401. You may also contribute online or through our Venmo account: @redeemer-charleston.

We Pray for God’s People, Work, & World

Pray for our missionaries around the world. Listen to one of our elders Kurt Brewer as he leads us in prayer.

We Hear God’s Word (Sermon)

Especially good for families, Bible Project offers short audio and video clips plus discussion questions centered around Scripture. Check out their Church at Home guide which traces the theme of water throughout the Bible and how it points to Jesus as the true water of life.

Rev. Craig Bailey preaches again this week from John 21:1-8, including an introduction and three parts.

John 21:1-8
After this Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of
Tiberias, and he revealed himself in this way. Simon Peter, Thomas
(called the Twin), Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and
two others of his disciples were together. Simon Peter said to them, “I
am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went
out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. Just as day
was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know
that it was Jesus. Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any fish?”
They answered him, “No.” He said to them, “Cast the net on the right
side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they
were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. That disciple
whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon
Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he
was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea. The other
disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were
not far from the land, but about a hundred yards off.

Sing I Surrender All as Fred leads us. Click here for the link or watch the embedded video below.

I SURRENDER ALL
All to Jesus I surrender
All to Him I freely give
I will ever love and trust Him
In His presence daily live

I surrender all
I surrender all
All to Thee my blessed Savior
I surrender all

All to Jesus I surrender
Humbly at His feet I bow
Worldly pleasures all forsaken
Take me Jesus take me now (chorus)

All to Jesus I surrender
Make me Savior wholly Thine
Let me feel the Holy Spirit
Truly know that Thou art mine (chorus)

All to Jesus I surrender
Lord I give myself to Thee
Fill me with Thy love and power
Let Thy blessing fall on me (chorus)
