God Calls Us to Worship

Read Psalm 100. A Psalm for giving thanks.
Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!
Serve the LORD with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!

Know that the LORD, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him;
bless his name!

For the LORD is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.

We Sing Praises to God

Sing Come Thou Almighty King as Fred leads us. Click here for the link or watch the embedded video.

COME THOU ALMIGHTY KING
Come Thou Almighty King, Help us Thy name to sing
Help us to praise, Father all glorious, O’er all victorious
Come and reign over us, Ancient of Days

Come Thou Incarnate Word, Gird on Thy mighty sword
Our prayer attend, Come and Thy people bless, And give Thy Word success, Spirit of holiness, On us descend

Come Holy Comforter, Thy sacred witness bear
In this glad hour, Thou who almighty art, Now rule in ev’ry heart,
And ne’er from us depart, Spirit of pow’r

To Thee great One in Three, Eternal praises be
Hence evermore, Thy sov’reign majesty, May we in glory see
And to eternity, Love and adore

Sing Praise the King as Fred leads us. Click here for the link or watch the embedded video.

PRAISE THE KING
There’s a reason why the curse of sin is broken
There’s a reason why the darkness runs from light
There’s a reason why we stand here now forgiven
Jesus is alive

There’s a reason why we are not overtaken
There’s a reason why we sing on through the night
There’s a reason why our hope remains eternal
Jesus is alive

Praise the King, He is risen, Praise the King, He’s alive
Praise the King, death’s defeated
Hallelujah, He’s alive, Hallelujah, He’s alive

There’s a reason why our hearts can be courageous
There’s a reason why the dead are made alive
There’s a reason why we share His resurrection
Jesus is alive (chorus)

God Reveals His Will for Our Lives

Read from II Peter 3:10-18:
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.

Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

We Confess Our Sins to God

These verses remind us that the Lord will return quickly–like a thief in the night. If you have lived assuming tomorrow is yours and putting off until then things the Lord asks you to do today, confess that. If you are not waiting well for the Lord by diligently seeking to live a life without spot or blemish, confess that. If you are not seeking to grow in the grace of the Lord and the knowledge of Him, confess that. If you are not living a life giving the Lord the glory for His amazing grace, confess that.

God Assures Us of His Forgiveness

Read from Ephesians 2:8-9:
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Sing Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone) as Fred leads us. Click here for the link or watch the embedded video.

AMAZING GRACE (MY CHAINS ARE GONE)
Amazing grace, How sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me,
I once was lost, but now I’m found, Was blind, but now I see

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved,
How precious did that grace appear, The hour I first believed

My chains are gone, I’ve been set free, My God, my Savior has ransomed me, And like a flood His mercy rains, Unending love, Amazing grace

The Lord has promised good to me, His word my hope secures, He will my shield and portion be, As long as life endures (chorus)

When we’ve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise Than when we first begun (chorus)

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, The sun forbear to shine, But God, Who called me here below, Will be forever mine,
Will be forever mine, You are forever mine (chorus)

We Give to the Lord (Offering)

With an economy that is shut down, our country is experiencing financially challenging times. This has been reflected at Redeemer in the past several weeks as the giving has decreased significantly. Please continue to give as an act of worship online or by check as the Lord gives you the ability. You may mail your checks to the church office at 43 Wentworth St. Charleston, SC 29401. You may also contribute online or through our Venmo account: @redeemer-charleston.

Read from Hebrews 6:18-19:
…we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul…

Listen to the Bailey girls as they sing Christ Our Sure and Steady Anchor. Click here for the link or watch the embedded video. Sing along if you’d like using the lyrics printed below.

CHRIST OUR SURE AND STEADY ANCHOR
Christ the sure and steady anchor
In the fury of the storm
When the winds of doubt blow through me
And my sails have all been torn
In the suffering in the sorrow
When my sinking hopes are few
I will hold fast to the anchor
It shall never be removed

Christ the sure and steady anchor
While the tempest rages on
When temptation claims the battle
And it seems the night has won
Deeper still then goes the anchor
Though I justly stand accused
I will hold fast to the anchor
It shall never be removed

Christ the sure and steady anchor
Through the floods of unbelief
Hopeless somehow O my soul now
Lift your eyes to Calvary
This my ballast of assurance
See His love forever proved
All my hope is in the anchor
It shall never be removed

Christ the sure and steady anchor
As we face the wave of death
When these trials give way to glory
As we draw our final breath
We will cross that great horizon
Clouds behind and life secured
And the calm will be the better
For the storms that we endured

Christ the shore of our salvation
Ever faithful ever true
We will hold fast to the anchor
It shall never be removed

We Pray for God’s People, Work, & World

Read Gov. Henry McMaster’s proclamation pictured below encouraging all of us to pray today:

We Hear God’s Word (Sermon)

Especially good for families, Bible Project offers short audio and video clips plus discussion questions centered around Scripture. Click here to check out their Church at Home guide which focuses on the theme of justice in the story of the Bible.

Rev. Craig Bailey preaches this week from John 21:9-17, including an introduction and two parts.

When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.” 11 So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn. 12 Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” Now none of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. 13 Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish. 14 This was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.

15 When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” 16 He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.

We Lament Before the Lord

Listen to this audio file. Jared Carlson, one of our elders at Redeemer, leads us in a prayer of lament.

We Acknowledge the Goodness of the Lord

Sing We Will Feast in the House of Zion as Fred leads us. Click here for the link or watch the embedded video.

WE WILL FEAST IN THE HOUSE OF ZION
We will feast in the house of Zion
We will sing with our hearts restored
He has done great things we will say together
We will feast and weep no more

We will not be burned by the fire
He is the Lord our God
We are not consumed by the flood
Upheld protected gathered up (chorus)

In the dark of night before the dawn
My soul be not afraid
For the promised morning oh how long
Oh God of Jacob be my strength (chorus)

Every vow we’ve broken and betrayed
You are the faithful one
And from the garden to the grave
Bind us together bring shalom (chorus)
