Why a Missions Trip to the Bahamas?
Our Goal
I John 3:23-24a And this is His (God’s) commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God and God in him.
The goal of the Christian parent and the goal of the church: Pray, love, and encourage our youth trusting that the Lord would draw them unto Himself to believe in Him and then to grow in believing AND that the Lord would work in their hearts to love others and walk in Christ.

Why go?
The people of the Bahamas NEED the love of Christ!
Why Bahamas?
Ministering in the Bahamas is manageable because it's an English-speaking population that's close to US.
Why Youth?
The work is oriented toward involving high schoolers:
- Teaching and caring for the children of Yellow Elder neighborhood: Four days with the children leading a five-hour literacy camp with reading, writing, science, VBS, and P.E.
- Playing with the children including a beginning and ending large group and lunchtime together!
Why is a missions trip the most effective way to grow in Christ and in loving others?
Ways that we grow in Christ: means of grace, fellowship, serving, loving, giving--or you can simply say: BEING ON MISSION TOGETHER!
This missions trip will be a means-of-grace-saturated exercise! Spiritual preparation and growth including eight meetings before leaving, devotions and prayer as a group, loving our group/missionaries/people of Yellow Elder, talking through experiences, worship together, personal devotions each morning...
Why should my youth go? Why should I go?
This is an opportunity for you and your youth to take one week, wholly devoted to being on mission, a whole week with just two goals in mind : believing and loving.
You won’t regret it! Seeing our youth grow in the Lord and in loving is more than worth the time spent in the Bahamas, the fundraising, meetings, and everything else!

Where: Staying at the Russels' home in the Bahamas
How Much: $1,900
- Don’t let this price scare you off! We're planning a big fundraiser, and Andrew Bekkering will help along the way as well. Reach out at any point if cost becomes the primary reason why you cannot participate.
How Many: At least 17 participants needed including youth, parents of youth, and adults
What: Both Saturdays are primarily for traveling. Sunday is for worship. Monday-Thursday is Literacy Camp. Friday is a day to enjoy God’s beautiful creation!
